Anke Wagner

Welcome to our wonderful community at Anke Wagner Pilates studio in Rowville.

I offer Pilates classes with the reformer equipment, the Pilates chair and separate classes with the aerial hammock
(each a of three people).

It is important to me that each session is designed as a whole body workout where you have time to experience and create movement whilst discovering something new about your mind and body.

My motto is to be open minded and that it is never too late to start something new.

Movement comes in many forms and apart from practicing Pilates, I’ve also begun to include circus skill training and learning to paraglide. Nordic Walking is a regular ritual with my partner in the Dandenong Rangers.

Music is also an important part of my practice. My dream is to become a harp therapist to not only use movement but sound as well as a healing tool to help patients to relax and reconnect with their human essence.

About Pilates

signal-2022-02-02-161626.jpeg

Pilates is an overall body conditioning repertoire developed by Joseph Pilates that stretches, strengthens and aims for overall balance of the body. The primary focus of the Pilates system is the strengthening of core muscles, which are essential to providing support for the spine and keeping the body balanced and better aligned.

Benefits of Pilates

  • Increased strength resulting in long, lean muscles and a flat abdomen.

  • Increased flexibility, agility and economy of motion.

  • Improved coordination and balance.

  • Corrected posture through strengthened core muscles.

  • Improved bone density and joint mobility.

  • Teaches body awareness and graceful movement.

  • Injury alleviation and prevention.

  • Increased lung capacity and improved circulation.

Why is Pilates effective?
Pilates requires an intense mind-body connection where the body is energized through deep breathing, supported by correct spinal and pelvic alignment and guided by a concentrated and focused mind through measured and efficient movement. Imbalances created through sedentary lifestyles often result in injury and back pain and are corrected through Pilates which provides the entire body with a balanced workout. This is achieved through the functional movements which make up the Pilates repertoire which activate several muscles at once, rather than targeting just one muscle group.
